Event Format

Here is some more  info on this springs trailquest events.

Format:

There will be an option of a 4 hour course or 2 hour course for those wishing to do a bit less distance. You can visit as many or as few controls as you like, in any order.  Beware though, if you come back after your time limit you start losing points!

Teams of 1 to 4 members are allowed but team members must stay together at all times. A maximum of 600 points will be available at each event, these will be spread out between 20 to 30 controls – the aim is for teams to score as many points as possible, we will be trying our hardest to plan it so no one gets them all!

Categories:

Your best 4 scores out of a possible 6 will count towards the overall series standings with prizes for winners in the following categories:  Open, Female, Vets (45+ average age), Mixed, and Youth (at least 1 member under 16) 

Maps:

Pre-printed and laminated 1:50,000 OS maps will be used. Sport ident timing is to be used for all events.  Once downloaded the sport ident timing card (dibber) will give you a total score and also provide you with split times between each control you visited.

Overall results will be available on the day, results and event report will also be posted on the trailblazers website.

Team kit:

 

While having fun is our main aim, safety will be taken seriously and all teams will be required to carry certain safety kit.

essential personal kit (you must have):

Bike, Bike helmet, Full body cover (preferably waterproof), mobile phone.

 recommended personal kit:

energy food and drink, Hi Vis clothing, tail-light, map-board. 

recommended team kit:

Tool kit,  Bike pump,  puncture repair kit,  spare tubes, basic first aid kit, a watch.

Rules:

Although trailquests are for the fun and enjoyment of the participants there are a few rules to follow to ensure a safe and fair event for all.

                               

  1. Competitors must report to the finish even if they retire. Failure to do so may result in an unneccesary search.
  2. Competitors must wear a helmet. & should carry a mobile phone and 1st aid kit – minimum of plasters and dressing to stop a severe cut bleeding.
  3. Consider other road users. Cars, motorcycles and tractors may approach in the middle of the road.
  4. Team Members must keep in voice contact at all times – including control sites and finish.
  5. Individual solo and team competitors must navigate and ride independantly of other competitors.
  6. Competitors must close all gates, pass or overtake walkers and equestrians slowly and courteously, treat the rural commmunity with due consideration and aim to cause no damage to the environment.
  7. Competitors must offer assistance to any competitors who are injured or in danger.
  8. Beware of oncoming cyclists. Ride on the left and give way to cyclists coming downhill.
  9. Competitors should punch all controls they find. If a control has been removed or tampered with this must be reported to organisers as soon as possible.
