Winter fun in the valley.

Round 2 of the Dromara CC winter trailquest league was a true test of man V nature!

A freezing Sunday morning greeted the 33 teams who took to the trails and tracks that make up the Lagan Valley Regional Park.

The Stables Cafe in the Lady Dixon park was the event HQ, the weather was cold but perfect for trailquesting. The course setter Trevor Annett had spread the controls evenly along the Lagan valley, from as far downstream as the Stranmillis end of Belvoir and as far upstream as Lambeg.
It was definately possible to ‘Clear the Course’ and under normal riding conditions (and a wee bit of pot hunting luck!) many teams could have managed the 40km it would have took.

On the day Dromara team Star Fangled Nuts, Geoff Brown and Phil O’Neill collected the most points with 398 of the 430 points on offer.

although, at least one team seems to have  visited them all but ended up with less points :-)

Big thanks to Trevor who put in all the hard work and ensured a fantastic event!

Next week sees a return to the popular Killinchy area of east Down, course setter Alan McMullan promises plenty of thought provoking route-choice. The weather looks set fair with the chance of some higher speeds on the frost free surfaces that can be found in the “Riviera of the North” – event HQ will be at Daft Eddies on Sketrick Island
